Current Volunteer Opportunities:

Social Prescribing Program

  • Friendly Visitors/Group Friendly VisitsA friendly visit creates lasting, meaningful relationships between seniors and volunteers. With regular visits, isolated seniors experience improved physical, mental and emotional health and gain a more positive outlook. No clinical care is required. Your role as a friendly visitor volunteer would be to provide friendship, support and stimulation in the lives of isolated seniors.

  • Monthly Friendly Meals In partnership with the Compassionate Neighbourhood Health Partners Society, this initiative provides a meal for you and a senior community member to pick up, deliver, and share together in the senior’s home. The program supports both practical needs and social connection. Participation would occur monthly.

Please note that additional onboarding is required, including completion of the Compassionate Neighbour’s training orientation, review of their handbook, and signing a consent form.

  • Community Connection CourierInvolves picking up donated items from community locations and delivering them to clients in need. This role is not needed frequently—requests typically come in about once a month—but occasionally, they may be urgent. It requires a volunteer with access to an insured vehicle who can handle light to moderate lifting when necessary. Professionalism, care and reliability are essential for this position.

  • Intergenerational Cooking Class – On-Call-Adult Lead Support a youth-led cooking program that fosters meaningful, hands-on connections between seniors and young people. In this volunteer role, you will provide occasional coverage for the regular adult leader by upholding kitchen safety standards, assisting with setup and cleanup, and offering supportive guidance—without taking overso youth leaders can shine and seniors enjoy the experience!

Meals on Wheels Program

  • Casual/Back up Drivers – To pick up and deliver hot or frozen meals to clients living in their own home, who because of illness or disability, cannot prepare adequate meals for themselves. Looking for people who could be “on call/back up” when regular delivery drivers aren’t able to make their volunteer shift for unforeseen reasons.

Better at Home Program

  • Lawn Mowing – We are looking for dependable, community-minded volunteers to help with lawn mowing and basic yard upkeep for senior residents who are unable to maintain their properties due to age, disability, or financial hardship.

In this role, you’ll make a meaningful difference by helping keep outdoor spaces clean, safe, and welcoming—supporting the dignity and well-being of our neighbors.

  • STARS Bus AssistantsSupports seniors on the STARS bus by assisting seniors with getting on and off the bus, and minor lifting of groceries (max 50Ibs).
