Youth Services Coordinator: Mohamad Mohamadi, 604.702.2903
Our different one-on-one youth support programs provide youth with an opportunity to address areas of stress, anger, conflict, self-esteem, and other youth related counselling matters. Our funding partners are MCFD and private donations.
The youth we support often lack positive adult role models that provide basic life skills coaching to support a successful transition into adulthood. Our Youth Support Program is designed to support youth in learning basic and advanced life skills to be successful in their independence and become a contributing member or our community. One-on-one support is provided, as well as group activities and recreational opportunities.
In partnership with Family Services and through funding with MCFD, the Young Family Program provides support to young pregnant and parenting youth. Support includes one to one assistance, referrals to programs to ensure a healthy pregnancy, parenting groups for both parents, and support to obtain appropriate child care to support youth in completing their Grade 12 education. The Young Family support worker is involved in community education and awareness through partnerships, presentations, and group activities.
Counsellors offer an empathetic ear and help find ways to solve problems and issues within a family. Our youth services therapist provides therapeutic support to youth and their families. The therapist helps youth and families recognize and build on their strengths in finding creative solutions to their unique circumstances.
The Youth Justice Intensive Support and Supervision Program (ISSP) is offered to high-risk, justice-involved youth as an alternative to custody or as a means of facilitating community re-entry after a period of custody. The aim of ISSP is to reduce recidivism by increasing supervision and supporting activities to reduce participants’ criminogenic needs.
