The 2021 census indicates that 19% of the population in Chilliwack is over the age of 65. Demand for senior services is growing too. Much has changed over the last few years especially around the way in which information is shared and accessed.
Support services for seniors has long been a part of the CCS mandate. Funding continues to be scarce, and all services continue to be volunteer driven. We thrive through fundraising and donation dollars.

“It will be 8 years in June since I met with Sarah Woelders and signed up with Better at Home.
I would like to say ‘thank you’ to all the people I have dealt with during that time and let them know how much I appreciate the help I have received. I had just moved here from Coquitlam, where I belonged to Better at Home and they told me I could get the same thing in Chilliwack.
I am 89 years old and live alone. I have several health issues but, thanks to Better at Home, I am getting a lot of the help I need. I started with housekeeping, then ordering my groceries with Nicole on Mondays. Thanks to her, I moved on to Meals on Wheels, and the STARS driver program for seniors who need to get to doctor appointments, etc. Nicole told me about them. Everyone has been so nice and makes me feel so glad that I decided to do this.
So, I just have to say thank you again to all of you because you have made my life better at home. ❤

PS. I feel I have to mention that I heard of Better at Home from a young male nurse in the hospital. I was a patient there for a few years before moving to Chilliwack and he was so nice and felt that I needed help at home. He was determined that he was going to get it for me. Before I left he came to me with all the information I needed to join.
I will always appreciate him.”
